Pre-Conference Workshop: Explore high-quality, open, ocean data and tools to support your marine science — ASN Events
9:00AM - 4:30PM
La Trobe Ballroom

Australia's Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) was established in 2006 under the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) to produce sustained open-access ocean observations to support Australian marine science, industry operations, and decision making. Over the past 18 years, IMOS has enabled the collection and delivery of over 1 billion measurements of the marine estate, from polar regions to the tropics, including 27 Essential Ocean Variables and 21 Essential Climate Variables, critical to the study of marine ecosystems, weather patterns, and climate dynamics.

Through a combination of presentations and guided tutorials, this workshop will introduce attendees to the breadth of ocean datasets delivered freely via the IMOS Australian Ocean Data Network (AODN) and enable a two-way dialogue between IMOS and end users. Attendees will explore the new AODN ocean data portal, novel cloud-optimised ocean datasets for data science applications, and a suite of tools, data products and resources available to help access, visualise, manipulate and integrate IMOS data with their research datasets.
