Dr Rachel Nanson is a geomorphologist with experience in theoretical and applied environmental research, and she specialises in geomorphic analyses and classification of rivers, coasts and marine environments. Rachel was awarded her PhD in fluvial geomorphology from the University of New South Wales in 2006, and after 9 years in academia joined Geoscience Australia in 2017 to take up a role as Marine Geomorphologist. Rachel is now leading Geoscience Australia's Marine Geomorphology Working Group in their international collaboration on the development of a standardised seafloor geomorphology mapping scheme, which she will be talking about today.
