Brooke has recently submitted her PhD thesis at the University of Wollongong. She is a coastal geomorphologist and her PhD focused on quantifying organic matter production in Australian blue carbon ecosystems. She integrates drone-based LiDAR, field experiments, and sediment radiometric dating techniques to investigate above- and below-ground carbon accumulation and the processes influencing surface elevation change. This work provides important information to model the vertical response of wetland substrates under conditions of sea-level rise and the implications for carbon storage.
