Cindy Huchery
Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, QLD, Australia

I am a multidisciplinary scientist who takes a socio-ecological system approach to understand and manage complex environmental issues. I possess strong data skills and extensive stakeholder engagement experience. Originally trained as an ecologist, I expended my expertise to social, economic and political sciences. In the last fifteen years, I have worked as a senior research officer at Charles Darwin University, the ARC Centre for Coral Reef Studies - James Cook University, and WorldFish on research and development projects looking at natural resource management, in the cattle industry, coral reef small scale fisheries, and sustainable livelihoods. In 2021, I started working as a social science project manager for the Science for Management section of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. I am applying my skills to a science broker role to ensure that social science is an integral part of the management of the Great Barrier Reef.
