Darcy is originally from the UK where she undertook a Marine Biology degree at Plymouth University and a MSc in Marine Management at the University of St Andrews. She has recently worked as a Marine Scientist for the Ascension Island MPA. She is currently pursuing a PhD at James Cook University working with TropWATER. Her project focuses on the return of fish nursery function in recovered and restored tropical seagrass meadows. She aims to develop non-invasive techniques using eDNA metabarcoding to assess species richness to be used for monitoring seagrass habitats.
